Weekend Pottery Workshops In response to student's requests for short courses concentrating on narrow aspects of the potters art, Douglas has been holding these 2 day workshops for last 5 years
Basic Throwing
September 25th-26th 2010
This weekend will be 2 days of intensive wheel work for beginners/improvers. With a mixture of group
demonstration and one to one instruction, great strides in skill and appreciation can be made. As ever we will be using our renowned Donyatt clay which we mix here at the
pottery. For students new to our pottery workshop, you will be working in a purpose built studio with first class wheels and equipment
Big Pots, joined pots
May 1st-2nd 2010
This 2 day workshop shows you how to make bigger pots, without having to be a weight lifter. Expand your control and add scale to your creating. Technique from around the world allow yo to make much bigger pots, using the skills of generation to develop large forms rather than be restricted by the weight of the clay
Advanced Throwing
May 15th-16th 2010
Two days of stretching the clay and yourself, pushing back the boundaries and having fun with thrown forms! These include manipulating surfaces, altering form, adding shape to shape and taking clay to the edge. Rediscover the timeless and limitless possibilities of the non-round pot using little known traditional practices and techniques. Explore forms you won't have thought possible. Both flat and hollow ware to be covered.
